About
Michael loves being outside and sharing the outdoor experience with others. He loves climbing, backpacking, mountaineering, and sailing. As a photographer by trade, Michael loves documenting the adventures people have outside and loves teaching others the skills needed to pursue their own adventures in the natural world.
He started climbing recreationally in 2018. By 2019, led by his desire to take landscape photos in wild places, he was spending most of his free time pursuing summits in the Central and Northern Cascade mountains. His dedication to mastering the art of climbing led him to achieve certification as an AMGA Single Pitch Instructor in 2023, with aspirations to further elevate his expertise by pursuing certification as a full international mountain guide.
Additionally, his commitment to safety and wilderness expertise is underscored by his certification as a Wilderness First Responder, reflecting his unwavering dedication to both adventure and preparedness.
Continuing to chase after his dream of a becoming a Full AMGA and IMFGA Mountain Guide by 45, he has now set his sights on becoming a multi-pitch instructor by 2026.
He volunteered frequently at Memphis Rox climbing gym as both a photography instructor and climbing instructor. He can also be found volunteer guiding with Memphis Outdoor Climbing School, a non profit, pay what you can guiding service aimed at increasing equity and access to the outdoors.
Outside of managing a studio and guiding. Michael can be frequently found climbing outside, riding bikes, learning to sail, hiking, taking photos, and developing or cleaning routes. He currently resides in Dayton, Ohio.
He has climbed in Ohio, Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky, Washington, Maine, Mississippi, California, Illinois, and Tennessee.
